Rayong Province, February 16, 2024 – The Nets Up project, in collaboration with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) in Rayong Province, SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited (SCGC), The Youth Fund project, and network partners, has conducted an operation to retrieve fishing nets from the "HTMS Petra" in Klaeng District, Rayong Province.

This activity was a cooperative effort involving the public sector, private sector, and coastal communities. Divers were deployed to the site of the sunken "HTMS Petra" to recover fishing nets and restore the ecosystem, aiming to transform it into a conservation area for coral reefs and marine life, and develop it into a significant marine ecotourism destination for Rayong Province. The nets and ropes retrieved, amounting to over 1.4 tons, will be sorted and utilized in the "Nets Up” project to add value according to the circular economy principles and sustainably reduce marine waste.
